What is an OER bullet?

An “OER Bullet” refers to a short, descriptive sentence or phrase used in an Officer Evaluation Report (OER) to showcase an officer’s accomplishments, skills and performance during a specific reporting period.

OER bullets are designed to provide concrete evidence of an officer’s abilities and accomplishments, allowing the rater (the officer’s supervisor) to accurately assess their performance and identify areas for growth.

Examples of OER bullets might include:

  • “Led a team of 10 soldiers in a successful mission, demonstrating strong leadership and teamwork skills.”
  • “Developed and implemented a new training program, resulting in a 15% increase in soldier proficiency.”
  • “Successfully navigated a complex situation under pressure, demonstrating resilience and problem-solving abilities.”
